I remember the day I took that photo on the left. I was sitting in my chair texting a friend when I looked up and saw my reflection in the mirror.

My first thought…”ugh you’re so disgusting and fat.” I know it’s harsh…but all I could think about was how gross I felt and how embarrassed and disappointed I was for letting myself get to that point.

But then I remembered – I am the one that got myself there and the only one that could make a change.

When I took full accountability and stopped blaming my weight on my circumstances, it gave me the ability to see that I was really the one in control.

I could make different choices and get a different result.

Clearly the dieting I was doing wasn’t working and only making me feel like a failure, so I gave up on dieting and focused instead on changing my habits and overall lifestyle.

Over the next year and a half, I lost 100 pounds!

And it all happened when I shifted my perspective and changed my mindset.

To get something different, you have to do something different.

The diets weren’t working so I focused on slowly changing my habits instead and it worked!

Motivation won’t magically appear when you need

Motivation won’t magically appear when you need it most.

There will be days you don’t feel like showing up, days that test every bit of your commitment.

But here’s where it gets real—you don’t wait for motivation. You create it.

Set a goal that pushes you. Make it big enough to feel scary, but doable enough to tackle step by step. Then start.

Even when it’s tough, even when you’d rather not.

Each mile, each day, each choice builds the momentum that motivation alone never could.

You have the power to create drive by taking action, and when you do that, you build something far stronger than motivation: you build trust in yourself.

Yesterday, Dave & I ran a half marathon that we had been training for since July. We finished in 2 hours and 48 minutes. That includes 1 bathroom break. 😉

We only walked through the water stations and kept a consistent jog the rest of the time.

The last mile was the hardest - no shade and my the sun was shining right down on us. 🥵 I felt a little faint the last 100 feet before mile 13 but then the adrenaline kicked in and we did it! 🙌🏼

We signed up for this half marathon because we wanted a challenge and crossing that finish line yesterday was the best reward after months of hard work.

You say you want them to grow up strong, confident

You say you want them to grow up strong, confident, and resilient.

But here’s the truth: they’re not listening to your words; they’re watching your actions. Every single day.

You can preach about discipline, hard work, and perseverance, but if you’re not living it yourself, they won’t follow.

They won’t push themselves because you told them to—they’ll push themselves because they see you doing it.

Be the example. Be the person that you want them to grow up to be.

Show them what it means to work hard, prioritize health, and commit to your goals. Show them what resilience looks like by getting up every time you fall.

Here’s my favorite part: you get to do it with them. Completing Mud Girl together with my daughter this past weekend was one of those moments where I saw firsthand how leading by example matters.

She pushed through every challenge, did not even mention the word quit (even when she was uncomfortable from some mud that got in her ear), and we got to cross that finish line stronger together.

I could not be more proud of her. But the best gift was seeing how proud of herself she was for accomplishing something hard and her belief being built that she is capable of anything. 💗 #mudgirlrun #mudgirl2024 #mudgirl #mudgirlphoenix
