Dressing
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons pickle juice
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salad
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Tomatoes
- Red onion
- Pickles
- Butter lettuce
Instructions
- 1: Prepare the Dressing: In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle juice, yellow mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Set aside.
- 2: Cook the Ground Beef or Turkey: In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the ground beef or turkey. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Once cooked, transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.
- 3: Saute the Onions: In the same skillet used for the meat, add the thinly sliced onions. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. If the skillet is dry, you can add a bit more olive oil to prevent sticking. Once caramelized, remove from heat and set aside.
- 4: Assemble the Salad: Arrange butter lettuce leaves on a serving platter or individual plates. Top with the cooked ground beef or turkey, sauteed onions, sliced tomatoes, diced red onion, and pickles.
- 5: Drizzle with Dressing: Spoon the homemade dressing generously over the salad, ensuring each bite is coated with the delicious flavors of the In-N-Out-inspired sauce.
