Vacations are a time to relax, unwind, and enjoy the finer things in life. But what if you’ve worked hard to shed those extra pounds and don’t want to throw all your progress out the window while indulging on your getaway? Even on vacation, healthy habits can be maintained, and I’m here to show you how!
Morning Routine
Every day starts with a good routine. I began my day by taking a morning health shot and hydrating with water right away. Staying consistent with my supplements and water intake is key to maintaining my health and weight loss goals, even while on vacation. My goal? Drink at least one gallon of water every single day.
Before heading out for the day’s adventures, I take my pre-workout. Then I loosely follow the plating method that helped them shed those 100 pounds. For breakfast, my plate is divided into two halves: one filled with protein, and the other with fiber-filled carbs. My breakfast consisted of an omelet packed with veggies, a few potatoes, grits, some fresh fruit, and a couple of slices of bacon. This balanced meal sets the tone for a day of active exploration.
Lunch by the Beach
A day at the beach calls for a delicious lunch, but sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. After ordering a meal at the beach, a sudden rain shower forced us to retreat to our room. Despite the unexpected change of plans, I enjoyed a nutritious meal, including a Greek salad, a burger patty, a handful of French fries, and half a Diet Coke. After lunch, it was time to hit the pool, where I indulged in a Virgin Pina Colada.
Fine Dining for Dinner
For dinner, we went to a French restaurant called Le Petit Chateau. One of my most effective weight loss habits is prioritizing vegetables throughout the day, and this meal is no exception. I started with a green salad containing apples, grapes, baby gem lettuce, and truffle honey vinaigrette. To ensure I got in even more veggies, I ordered two entrees: ratatouille and shrimp with lobster.
Sweet Treat to End the Day
Vacation wouldn’t be complete without a sweet treat. After dinner, we treated ourselves and the kids to ice cream. I opted for a banana split with a variety of flavors like cookie dough, chocolate, and cookies and cream, topped with chocolate fudge and whipped cream. However, I made sure to listen to my body and only eat about three-quarters of it, as I started to feel pleasantly full.
By incorporating balance, hydration, and a focus on vegetables, I have found a way to continue to prioritize my health and well-being even in the midst of indulgent vacation days. The key takeaway? Weight loss success doesn’t have to take a vacation when you’re mindful of your choices and stay committed to your goals. So, whether you’re at home or on a getaway, remember that a healthy lifestyle is a journey worth preserving.
