AIR FRYING TECHNIQUE: CRISPY AND GOLDEN

To achieve that perfect crispy skin and juicy interior, we’ll be using an air fryer. The air fryer is a fantastic kitchen appliance that mimics the results of deep frying but uses significantly less oil. Here’s how to achieve that golden goodness:

1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).

2. Place the pre-seasoned drumsticks in the air fryer basket, making sure they’re not overcrowded. If needed, cook in batches to maintain airflow for even cooking.

3. Optionally, lightly spray the drumsticks with cooking spray. This helps enhance the crispiness of the skin.

4. Cook the drumsticks for 16 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. This ensures that both sides get that beautiful golden color and crisp texture.

The dials make this easy to use, no digital buttons, the glass front lets you see what’s happening to be able to gauge the cook time – you get a nice crisp and a fast cook!

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Now that your air-fried chicken drumsticks are perfectly crispy and cooked to perfection, let’s explore some serving ideas:

1. Garden Freshness: Serve your crispy drumsticks with a side of mixed greens salad. Toss in colorful veggies like cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers, and drizzle with a light vinaigrette for a refreshing, nutrient-packed meal.

2. Roasted Veggies: Pair your drumsticks with a medley of roasted vegetables like broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower seasoned with herbs and a touch of olive oil for a satisfying, low-calorie option.

3. Whole Grains: Accompany your air-fried chicken with a side of whole grains, such as quinoa or brown rice. These wholesome grains provide essential fiber and nutrients while complementing the chicken’s flavor.

4. Greek Yogurt Dip: Skip the high-calorie sauces and dip your drumsticks into a tangy Greek yogurt sauce seasoned with garlic, lemon juice, and fresh herbs. It’s a creamy and nutritious alternative that won’t compromise on taste.

5. Fresh Fruit Medley: For a sweet and healthy contrast, prepare a fruit salad featuring seasonal fruits like berries, melon, and citrus. The natural sweetness of the fruits will balance the savory notes of the chicken.

Costco's pre-seasoned drumsticks, paired with the magic of the air fryer, make it possible to enjoy crispy and flavorful chicken without the hassle!
Yield 2
Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Pre-seasoned chicken drumsticks from Costco
  • Cooking spray optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
  • Place the pre-seasoned drumsticks in the air fryer basket, making sure they’re not overcrowded. If needed, cook in batches to maintain airflow for even cooking.
  • Optionally, lightly spray the drumsticks with cooking spray. This helps enhance the crispiness of the skin.
  • Cook the drumsticks for 16 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. This ensures that both sides get that beautiful golden color and crisp texture.
  • Check the internal temperature of the drumsticks using a meat thermometer. The chicken should reach a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) to ensure they’re fully cooked and safe to eat.
  • Once they’ve reached the desired temperature, remove the drumsticks from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to be redistributed, ensuring a juicy bite.

Notes

You can always use regular chicken thighs and season in your preferred spices!
Here’s how I season mine if they aren’t pre-seasoned:
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– 1 teaspoon oregano
